Hop...Hop...Hop... (9)

Book Blogger Hop

This is my 9th time participating in the Blog Hop... I actually went back and counted. :)

Hi! Welcome to Book Infinity! My name is Ava, and if you're a new follower, leave a comment and tell me! I always try to return the favor to the best of my ability.

The question for the week:

"What are your feelings on losing followers? Have you ever stopped following a blog?"

My answer:

Very interesting question, and I'm not really sure what my opinion is. I've never been concious of actually losing followers, but I assume people have stopped following my blog for one reason or another. If it's because they don't like it, that's not my fault. I'm just being myself- people either like it or they don't!

As for the second question, I've never un-followed a blog through Google Friend Connect (I don't even know if that's possible!). But I guess it's true to say I'll went to someone's blog a few times, commented a few times, and never returned. Not intentionally though, it was never because I didn't like the content, it's just that there's so many blogs out there and I follow so many sometimes it's hard to keep up with commenting on all of them!

I'm interested to hear what other people have to say about this. What's your opinion? Feel free to leave a comment!

Other news, my NaNoWriMo progress: I an currently at 6286 words in my NaNoWriMo novel! I started a day late (I didn't write anything on the 1st), but my personal goal is 2000 words a day. So far I am ahead of myself, which is a positive thing! I will admit content wise my novel is a little bit on the awful side, but I believe the goal is just to get writing, no matter how awful it is, because I know without it I wouldn't be writing anything at all. An awful book is better than procrastinating and never getting around to it at all!

Book Blogger Hops :D

It's Friday, time for the Blogger Hop again! The Hop is hosted by Crazy-For-Books.

If you're here for the first time, welcome! To my followers- I'm sorry it's been a slow week, no reviews! (Gasp!) I have been reading, but I'm getting ready for the 10 Days of Halloween, and I'm saving my reviews to post then to go along with some planned events.

Book Blogger Hop

The question of the week for the Hop is:
"When you read a book that you just can't get into, do you stick it out and keep reading or move to your next title?"

My answer:
Most of the time, I just stick with the book and try to get through it so I can review it, but if it's too awful that I just can't, than I'll give up on it. That doesn't happen very often though, it's been a while since I put down a book.

EDIT: And there's Parajunkee's Follow Friday which I haven't done in forever, but I'm joining this week!

The question is:
What is your reading suggestion this week?

My answer:
Infinite Days by Rebecca Maizel. I haven't reviewed it yet, but it was great and I would definitely recommend it.

I already mentioned if you don't see a whole ton of posts from me this coming week either, that's why. My reviews of Infinite Days and Matched will be posted in a couple of weeks even though I finished them. So look for that coming eventually!

Other than that, thanks for stopping by and please leave a comment with a link to your blog if you become a follower!

Happy Hopping!

Book Blogger Hop!

Welcome to the Hop this week! It's hosted by Crazy-For-Books!

Book Blogger Hop

If you found me through the blog hop, be sure to let me know! Leave your links too so I can stop you your blog as well. :D

This Week's Question:

How do you spread the word about your blog?
(e.g. Social Networking sites, Book Blog Directories, comments on other blogs...)
When I first started blogging, I tried everything I knew of to make others aware of my blog. I created a Twitter account (follow me here!). I'm also part of the Young Adult Book Blog Directory. I have to say that the biggest way to help me gain followers and meet other awesome bloggers was from the Blog Hop! I was amazed by how fast I started accumulating followers when I starting joining this! It's such a great way to spread the word about new blogs and to meet other bloggers. Now that I know a lot of bloggers, I don't join every week, but I do occasionally because I still love to discover new things!

Now, some news!
Very soon (later today or tomorrow) I will be announcing an event that will be hosted right here at Book Infinity! It's going to be very exciting, so be sure to come back and check that out soon. (HINT: There will be FREE STUFF! So be sure to come back and check it out!)
Happy Hopping!

Friday Blog Hop (and 1 more day to enter contest!)

Book Blogger Hop

The blog hop is hosted by Crazy-For-Books.
Welcome to Book Infinity! I'm Ava, and if it's your first time here, leave a comment!

Just some news...
I'm currently have a 100+ followers giveaway going on. IT ENDS SATURDAY AT MIDNIGHT MST. If you haven't entered yet, go here to enter! You can win either Blue Bloods by Melissa de la Cruz or Marked by P.C. and Kristin Cast. You have today and tomorrow left to enter!

Now, about the blog hop. The question of the week:

Do you use a rating system for your reviews and if so, what is it and why?

My answer:
Yes, I use a rating system, from 1-5, with 5 being the best and 1 being the worst. I actually recently updated my sidebar with a detailed explanation of what each rating means, so head over there and check it out if you're curious. It's not the most original idea (I've seen many other bloggers use the same kind of system) but it works really well for me. It's not perfect, of course, and sometimes I just can't decide what to rate a book, because one rating can't convey everything in the book. But that's why I also write detailed reviews!

Doing the Blog Hop Again!

Book Blogger Hop

The blog hop is hosted by Crazy-For-Books. After taking a little break, I've decided to participate in the blogger hop again today. My reason? I have 2 more followers until 100, and when I reach 100 followerers I will announce a contest! My goal was to announce that contest today, and since that hasn't happened, I hope it will by the end of the day. I only need 2 more followers as of right now! I can't wait to announce the contest!

If this is your first time at Book Infinity, welcome! My name is Ava and I read mostly Young Adult fiction. Thanks for stopping by and leave your link so I can check out your blog too!

I also want to mention the other thing that's going on at Book Infinity is The Hunger Games Week. All week I'm posting things about The Hunger Games as a lead up to the release of Mockingjay on August 23rd! You can check out my dream cast here, and today I have a plan of something else I'm going to post a little later, so check back if you're interested!

The question for the blog hop today is:

How many blogs do you follow?

My answer:

Currently, as I write this, I follow 162 blogs! I don't follow all of them as accurately as I would like, but some of them I'm definitely a real "follower" to (I go by regularly, leave meaningful comments, etc.).

Friday Blog Hops!

It's midnight on Thursday here...so that means it's technically Friday! So time for the Blog Hop and Follow Friday!
If this is your first time here, welcome! I'm Ava, and this is my humble little book blog Book Infinity. :D Comment if you're stopping by through the hop!

Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee's View, just go on over there and sign up!

The Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Jennifer at Crazy-For-Books.

Book Blogger Hop
As part of the Book Blogger Hop, you must answer a question about yourself.
This week's question:
Who is your favorite new-to-you author so far this year?

My favorite new author is Lauren Oliver. She wrote Before I Fall (see my review here), and has a new book coming up called Delirium. (I know I've done a lot of posts where I've talked about her books, but I love them!) I discoved Before I Fall through blogging, and it was on the 2010 Debut Author Challenge list. I'd heard so many good reviews, so it was the first one I read. I have to say I haven't rated a book 5 stars in a VERY long time. But Before I Fall was just that good. Lauren Oliver is a brilliant author and I've heard great things about her future releases as well.

Blog Hop and Follow Friday!

Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee's View and is a great way to meet new bloggers! If you're here for the first time, welcome! I'm Ava and I love to read and share my thoughts and meet new people.

Book Blogger Hop

And there's also the Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Crazy-For-Books. The question for this week is:

TELL US ABOUT THE BOOK YOU ARE CURRENTLY READING!

Right now, I am reading Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater. It's about a human girl who falls in love with a werewolf that lives in the woods behind her house, and she's been watching him ever since she was young every winter, but she didn't know he was human. I recently started it, and I'm only on page 35 because I've been really busy! So far it's good though, and I already have Linger also, so I'm looking forward to reading this series.

P.S. Sorry my background is gone! I'm working on a new one since the old one disappeared, but it might be a couple of days, because I'm working on a mini blog makeover and I'm going to add a few awesome things.

Blog Hop!

It's Friday again, so time for the Blog Hop! It's hosted by Crazy-For-Books.
Welcome to Book Infinity! If this is your first time, please comment! My name is Ava, reading is pretty much my life right now.

This week's question:

Tell us about some of your favorite authors and why they are your favorites!

My answer:

There's so many, so I'll just name a few.
-Suzanne Collins, author of Hunger Games and Gregor the Overlander, great series!
-JK Rowling, author of Harry Potter series of course
-Libba Bray, author of A Great and Terrible Beauty trilogy.

I love these authors because they know how to create really good characters and situations that capture reader's attention. They know how to tell a story and build on it and provide great twists! I hope to read more from these authors in the future.

Thanks for stopping by!
